Strategic Information: are the list of key inputs needed to know and deliver a specific Function (Key Result) in the project.

How to find the Strategic Information of your function? Ask yourself the question What key inputs (strategic information) are needed to deliver this Function (ex.: rental reservation management)?

=> For each Function (Key Result), list the corresponding key inputs (=Strategic Information).

Examples of Strategic Information for a car rental IT system project:

Examples

Inputs: Strategic Information

Outputs: Functions (Key Results)

Rental reservation management

List of vehicles available for rent

Vehicle availability calendar

Customer rental period

Fleet management

Maintenance activity timing list

Vehicle utilisation rate

How many Strategic Information should I have in my project?

Typically 1 to 10 unique Strategic Information per Function (Key Results) i.e. 10 to 150 unique Strategic Information per project (1x10 up to 10x15).

What is NOT a Strategic Information (SI)? Anything that is not a necessary input of the successful delivery of the Function (ex: rental reservation management).

Ask yourself: Can the Function be delivered with success without this SI? If answer is yes, then this is NOT a Strategic Information, ex.: customer’s address at destination.
